Our Farmstay

Our Formation

Hermitage Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd was then formed to develop and manage the property as a Thoroughbred facility designed with safety and comfort for the horses being the focus of all construction.

New beginnings

The 250 acre property of The Hermitage was purchased in August 2010. At that time there was no horse infrastructure and just a moderate hay shed to support only a small herd of cattle. There are two houses including the homestead and chapel which dates back as far as 1840.

Facilities now include areas suitably designed for horses to call The Hermitage home at any stage of a Thoroughbreds living days from conception to retirement. Safe fencing for the spacious paddocks and vetting yards with a purpose built crush for reproductive work form part of the infrastructure catering for the safe handling of broodmares and their valuable foals and unbroken stock.

Our Barn

A state of the art 16 horse stable barn within a complex that includes a covered walking machine tie up area and wash-bay form a precinct.

Our Areas

Horses can be worked and ridden throughout the farm in paddocks/laneways wooded areas and the uphill turfed and irrigated exercise track.

Premium Facility

The improvements mentioned above complete The Hermitage to function as an all-round facility for the Thoroughbred Racehorse suitable for rearing, educating and preparing horses throughout their racing careers and into their retirement.

Hermitage Wagyu Stud

Sharing The Hermitage with the well catered for Thoroughbreds is a registered Wagyu Cattle Herd known as Hermitage Wagyu Stud. Currently H.W.S is developing a strong genetic base with the aid of natural selection, artificial insemination and embryo transfer and the sourcing of some of the best genes available in Australia with the view of providing beef of the highest standard for those associated with “The Hermitage”.
