Thoroughbreds

Home of The Autumn Sun.

Hermitage Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd was formed in 2011 and facilities designed with safety and comfort for horses as the primary focus of all works. Facilities now include areas designed for horses to call The Hermitage home at any stage of a Thoroughbreds life.

Designed with spacious paddocks and safe horse rail fencing and shelters throughout the property, our state of the art 16 horse stable barn, within a complex that includes a covered Icelander Aqua Walker, tie up area, wash-bay, grass arena and now and under cover round yard, form a precinct where horses can be worked and ridden throughout the farm. Horses are worked in paddocks, laneways, wooded areas and arguably one of Australia’s best uphill, turfed and irrigated exercise track.

The improvements ensure The Hermitage can function as an all-round facility for the Thoroughbred Racehorse; suitable for rearing, educating and preparing horses throughout their racing careers and into retirement.

Across her career, she put together 12 spectacular starts, securing 11 dominant consecutive victories against the nation’s elite before her first brave defeat. Her legendary record includes early milestones in the Up and Coming and Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes, alongside historic Group 1 triumphs and a multi-million-dollar victory in the $10 million Golden Eagle.

Tron Bolt

When our team secured Tron Bolt for $900,000 at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale, we knew we had a rare athlete. Bred by Gilgai Farm out of Group 3 winner Baccarat Baby, this stunning son of Toronado completely dominated his breeze-ups before the hammer fell. Sent to Chris Waller’s stable, he showed elite talent immediately.

That promise peaked at Eagle Farm, where he delivered a signature performance to claim the Group 1 Trackside NZ J.J. Atkins Plate. Despite a slow pace, he relaxed beautifully under James McDonald before storming home through rain-affected ground to score an emphatic victory. The historic win handed Toronado his first juvenile Group 1 winner and sealed a record-breaking 17th seasonal Group 1 for “J-Mac”.

Proven at the highest level in just four career starts, we are incredibly excited for his future. Our sights are now firmly set on a massive three-year-old spring campaign, targeting elite events like the Group 1 Golden Rose and the Caulfield Guineas.

Stormy Marco

Stormy Marco has rapidly confirmed himself as one of the most exciting young prospects in our stable. Hand-picked and found by bloostock agent Guy Mulcaster, this brilliant son of Wootton Bassett made an immediate statement on debut, unleashing an explosive turn of foot to completely outclass his rivals in the $160,000 Clarendon Stakes at Hawkesbury.

Our team’s belief in Guy’s selection was fully justified when we stepped the colt up to the highest level at Eagle Farm. He delivered a spectacular, brave performance to finish third in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins Plate, proving he belongs alongside the absolute best of this generation. Out of the Irish mare Rose Memory and bred by Rathmore Bloodstock, he possesses both the world-class European pedigree and the tactical speed needed to thrive on Australian turf.

With a victory and a Group 1 placing secured in his very first preparation, the future looks incredibly bright for this colt. We are absolutely thrilled with his development and are now aiming him toward a defining three-year-old spring campaign.
