Dating back to 1840, the 250 acre heritage listed property of The Hermitage was purchased in August 2010 by Mr Eugene Chuang. At that time there was no horse infrastructure; just a hay shed to support a small herd of cattle, and a couple modest dwellings – including the original homestead and chapel. It was purchased with the idea it could be a place where much loved racehorses from both Hong Kong and Australia could retire and live in peace and tranquillity.
From these humble beginnings, The Hermitage has developed into a well known and reputable farm, with state of the art facilities for both animals and guests. Mr Chuang remains very involved in the farm and makes every effort to ensure The Hermitage always looks after the best interest of its animals, staff, neighbours and local communities.
